Introduction

Passive House is a building technique that results in very low energy buildings that require little energy for heating and cooling.

Passive House achieves these low energy buildings by increasing the buildings’ airtightness, implementing superinsulation to reduce heat transfer through the walls, floor and roof, advanced window technology such as quadruple-pane glazing and utilising solar panels, maximising passive solar gain.

Features of Passive Houses

  • Slow internal temperature changes

  • Fresh, clean air supply

  • Low energy consumption

  • Constant dryness (damp resistant)
