A combination boiler (combi boiler) is a boiler that does a combination of providing hot water and central heating to a house. A combi boiler does not require a cistern to be installed in the home and the unit takes up very little space. Furthermore, combi boilers have inbuilt condensers that recycle any heat that would be lost out of the flue pipe back into the system, which lowers the boiler’s energy consumption.

Main types of combi boiler

· Gas combi boiler

· Oil combi boiler

· LPG (liquified petroleum gas) combi boiler

· Electric combi boiler

Advantages of a combi boiler

· Highly efficient

· Long lifespan

· Lower energy consumption

· No excess hot water created

Disadvantages of a combi boiler

· Not suitable for large homes

· Relies on strong mains pressure

· Not compatible with old pipework
